A Celebration Of Dads
June 21, 2015
With Father’s Day upon us, here is a blog post dedicated to DADS
and the oh so important role we play in our children’s lives.
Children’s Books About Dads
What better way to bond with your child than reading a book together! In no particular order, here are my top 5 books, they are all books appropriate for children from birth to tot and feature dads in the story.
QUIERO A MI PAPA PORQUE
Cute and cosy with all of the words and animal names in Spanish and English. This one helps me keep in the Spanish language club with my wife and kids.
CLEVER DADDY
Simple rhyming story with universal appeal.
WE’RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT
A group of kids and their Dad go on a bear hunt. They tramp through mud, wade through rivers, and go through all sorts of environmental hazards to find their fuzzy foe. Lovely rhyme makes this an easy read aloud.
DADDY IS MY HERO
A wonderful celebration of dads – full of fantasy, fun and… fancy dress!
DARTH VADER AND SON/ VADER’S LITTLE PRINCESS
What if Darth Vader took an active role in raising his kids? It took a whole 2 seconds deciding to buy this one.
An Interview with the Dad Network
In the spirit of all things Dad, the lovely chaps at the Dad Network approached me for a chat about being a Dad entrepreneur.
It was a chance to talk about the challenges of starting a business along with the balancing act of being an entrepreneur and dad.
You can read about it here.
Father’s Day with painter Toby Mulligan
We headed to the stunning heights of Petersfield to meet with painter Toby Mulligan and let the kids go wild with some paint and large blank convassses. A wonderful chance to sit back for a prolonged break with only their paint covered clothes and faces to worry about as an after thought!
Not quite the BP portrait award nomiated work Toby is recognised for, but as Picasso said – ‘All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up’. So there it is.
Many of Toby’s painting are for sale either as originals or limited edition prints. Please contact Toby on 07531 912808 to discuss a portrait commission or to purchase artwork. www.tobymulligan.com.
